Today I had my 12 week follow up appointment. Hooray! A milestone! It was exciting to get new X-rays and see the progress with the fusion. There’s still a lot of healing to do, but everything is on track which is awesome to see given my concerns about the bones resisting healing due to the allergy. What pleases me most about this is realizing that if I feel as much improvement as I do now with the current amount of bone healing, imagine how amazing I will feel once it is all done! DANG! I’m excited to keep going – rainbow trails all day!
You can see the bone filling in more at the top than the bottom.
I have a lot of bone pain 24/7 where all of the metal is due to the nickel allergy, but it is manageable – I’m not going to die from it. I am keeping my eyes on the prize and running the mile I’m in. Eventually there will be an end and we will take it all out!
This is what a typical morning outbreak looks like. Imagine it head to toe. So hot.
Looking ahead, I am allowed to move more now, easing back into activities that bring me joy. Otherwise, I am continuing on with the Exogen and laser and everything else I’ve been doing for myself. Bit by bit it is working. We will check everything again in 3 more months – late July.
