How was Nature Photography Day for you? We had a lot of fun with it at our house, and I received images all day long from friends and family – please send me MORE! I smile every time someone sends me a piece of art they made, a peek at what they see beauty in, or a spark of interest and intrigue. There is intention behind all of it, no matter the skill level, and that is where the magic happens.
Here are the images my family made yesterday…
I took Willa to her farm camp in the morning. On the drive up she told me stories about all of the ladybugs she finds in the fairy forest, their spots, and how magical they are – my inspiration to include the image at the top of this post.
Once we arrived, we had some time before camp started so I gave her my phone and set her off to shoot whatever interested her. She grabbed a friend (with her dad’s phone in hand) and off they went. Chickens, turtles, peacocks, and goats were the main choices. Here are her two favorites together.
For my image, I waited until late afternoon to get more directional sunlight. I chose this tiny flower, no larger than a dime, and grabbed a prism to have some fun playing with light. The miracle in this shot was my ability to get down on my belly in the rocks and dirt to shoot. Comfortably! Fa-reak-ing amazing!! Moments like this illustrate my healing and recovery and make me HAPPY, just like the rainbow streaks from the prism.
David went out with his phone and captured the afternoon sunlight streaming through the baby Aspen leaves. Gorgeous textures!
Mason was inspired to try a prism, too, so off he went. He used it as a kaleidoscope, turning this dried up pinecone into abstract art. Y’all, anything can be art! He is proud of this one.
And, finally, Lucas sent me this one from his phone. I’m enjoying the texture of the center of the flower and the veins on the petals.
Isn’t this fun? Think about how many things we walk by without noticing all day long, yet they are all endless possibilities for art. Each has limitless beauty on their own, yet when viewed through different lenses, artistic potential is infinite.
Yesterday’s shared images from you included lakes, reflections, sunsets, sunrises, snowfields, high mountain wildflowers, shadows, vivid colors, feathers, fluffy baby animals, eggs, mountains – life! I see each of you in what you shared.
If you have yet to go make your photograph, I hope these images have inspired you to go do it! Go! Make Art! Get your kids/family/friends involved! Make it a game! Then please share it with me!
