Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! In honor of the day, I’m sharing 25 gratitudes with you. I begin every single day with my personal gratitude practice, taking time to reflect upon and journal about three things I’m grateful for in that moment, but today I’ll expand it to 25. Let’s go!
25 Gratitudes
1. I’m grateful for David. He is my spouse, the love of my life, the father of my kids, ever committed. He’s the hardest worker I know and would do anything for us. I admire his creativity with his work and care for everyone in his circle – family, employees, customers.
2. I’m grateful for Lucas’ new life path. He has hit his stride after a rough gap year. He took a leap of faith with going to college this year and it is paying off. I am so happy for him and thrilled to see him thriving.
3. I’m grateful for Mason deepening his passions. It is exciting to sit back and watch him dive deeply into his passions and explore new ones.
4. I’m grateful for Wiggly Willa hugs, every morning. Her energy is infectious so a huge dose of it in the early part of my day is one of the best gifts. I try to wrap up my writing as I hear her getting up so I’m ready to receive her.
5. I’m grateful for my snuggly kitty, Snowy. I’m his person. He sleeps on my shoulder almost every night. I’ve never been an animal’s person so there’s something special here.
6. I’m grateful for my BFF. We make each other better. To the core, we want nothing but the best for each other. I’m your biggest fan!!
7. I’m grateful for my closest friends. We talk every day, sharing our funnies, questions, thoughts, and ideas – like Wiggly Willa hugs, I look forward to these connections every morning. This is for you:
8. I’m grateful for our health. What more is there to say here? Health is life.
9. I’m grateful for obstacles because they are the way.
10. I’m grateful for this year’s surgery and ongoing recovery. It has delivered more obstacles than relief, but, go back to #9.
11. I’m grateful for setting aside my egotistical “need” to force a return to running and instead letting #9 guide me to a new sport that suits me better now. A beloved path isn’t always a forever path.
12. I’m grateful to Adam, my coach, for making sure my new path is efficient, accurate, and healthy. It would be easy to do this wrong.
13. I’m grateful for the day ahead. There is a fresh layer of snow on the ground, Lucas will be here today, and we will cook a traditional Thanksgiving dinner together.
14. I’m grateful for my Dad taking the time to help me heal old wounds this year. It was a long time coming, so thank you for having the courage to go deep with me.
15. I’m grateful to all of my family for bearing with me over all of these years.
16. I’m grateful for YOU, my reader! I appreciate comments, support, questions, and ideas. Thank you for following my story.
17. I’m grateful for my home and my favorite things in it. Everything from my favorite blanket to the solid roof over our heads.
18. I’m grateful for this blog. It is a huge project that I can’t believe I’ve been able to extend this long as a daily practice. This is post 260. As a Not Writer, this proves to me that we can decide to be something else and go do it. We create our own limits and borders.
19. I’m grateful that despite my currently increasing physical limitations, it is isn’t impeding my progress much in the gym. These obstacles are revealing new ways and creativity, and I’m having fun with it.
20. I’m grateful for opportunities. For all of us in our family, and for those we connect with.
21. I’m grateful for connecting deeply with people. Now more than ever. I don’t know if it is because of wearing masks or just where I am in life, but connecting eye to eye and heart to heart is happening more and more for me. Moments to linger and talk with the grocery store staff, a stranger in a movie theater, even on the phone with someone at a business. My blinders are melting away.
22. I’m grateful for mistakes. The bad mistakes and the good mistakes.
23. I’m grateful for my connection with all of my kids. They are quick to come to me with honesty and openness, something I had hoped to cultivate in our relationships.
24. I’m grateful for my daily gratitude practice. It sets the tone for my entire day.
25. I’m grateful for today. Right now. This moment. We don’t know if we get another, so being here now is the place to be.
25 gratitudes for the November 25th, Happy Thanksgiving to you, your family, friends, and everyone you hold dear. May we all spend time in gratitude not only today but every day of the year.
