I had a conversation with friends a few days ago centered on the idea of self-sabotaging competition. This is competing with the self and/or others at things that aren’t even a competition, often resulting in personal upset, and rarely tied to concrete, big-picture goals.
I have a “Learn Something New” pottery update today. A couple of days ago I returned to the pottery studio to clean up our projects and prepare them for firing. My bestie lives an hour away so I went alone, entrusted to care for both of our pieces. The studio was full of other adult students, also prepping their pieces. As each learned that I was working on my BFF’s piece, the comment was “wow, that takes a lot of trust!”
I’m beginning an annual tradition today – 29 for 29. This year’s edition sent me down the rabbit hole of my Pinterest boards, smiling and enjoying the wild trip. It is fascinating to see what sorts of things have spoken to me over the years since starting my boards!
Today I’m sharing 29 curated wishes that speak to me right now and resonate with the purpose and messages of my entire blog. I hope you will enjoy these!
Little things make all the difference…
Last night I attended a Kat Vellos event, Here To Make Friends. This was a two-hour online event with the purpose of gathering to meet new people and potentially find friends. I originally ran across Kat, author of We Should Get Together, on a podcast, visited her website to learn more, and saw the event. Intrigued, I signed up.
I am getting technical today. I’ve had some questions regarding my post-op must-have supplies and tools so today I’ll share my Ultimate PAO Supplies List. This list is primarily for PAO patients, but many items are valid for pubic fusion patients, too. I imagine every doctor gives their patients a supply list before surgery (mine did) but there are tons of options and preferences. I started with pretty much everything that was on my list and have trimmed it way down to what works best for me, so I hope this is helpful for your success. Also, I’m including my own tips and tricks that aren’t on any lists.
I’ve been given two strong messages this morning that align with a theme that has been in my face for days. I’m listening, universe.
I’ve been reading Tim Grover’s new book, Winning. He’s the secret sauce behind Michael Jordan and Kobe, among others, and CEO of Attack Athletics. When it comes to winning, he’s not messing around and he knows his stuff!
The winning mindset in all its forms is fascinating to me. I love to win – I always have and always will, it is an integral part of my DNA. As a kid, I was a little sh*t, always needing to win and be right, but my definition has morphed over the years.
2/3 to 6 months. That’s where I am today, this is where we are together. 1/22/2021 was my pubic fusion (pubic ORIF) surgery and my next appointment to check healing progress is on 7/21/2021.
2/3 is a tough place to be. I have come so far, yet there is still a ways to go. 2/3 is a time to take a breath and brush my teeth before a fresh push to the finish. 2/3 is a time to lean into my anchors.
