I have been writing a love letter a day to someone in my family, David or the kids, since the beginning of June. I haven’t missed a day because it is one of the highlights of my mornings. After I write a daily blog post I write a daily love letter. Thoughtfully connecting with one of them is powerful and grounding, a daily reminder to slow down and notice, appreciate, and delight in what makes each one unique. I close almost every letter with a “may you…” wish. Today I’m sharing 31 of my favorite wishes from the letters I’ve written so far.
Today is a letter of appreciation for YOU! We met you just yesterday but our experience with you merits an open love letter so others can appreciate you, too. Showing AND telling is the best way I can express my gratitude!
“Don’t lose rainbow order because if you do it makes your tummy and head hurt. It isn’t correct and I get really sad.”
– Willa Martin
The brilliance of my 5 year old, integrating color with feeling. Yes, girl, yes! You’ve got it! She not only sees rainbow but feels it in her body.
I’ve been trying to write a post about all the things I wish I had known before PAO surgery for a week or so now, but even after a long discussion with David, I was stuck with only one thing. We dug deep into the intangibles – effect on family, mental/emotional aspects, etc. – and still we were stuck at one. Today I randomly landed on a vitally important second thing and feel that together with the first thing I have enough to share – 2 things I wish I knew before PAO surgery.
Are you ready?
Pain is a tricky topic, but I want to dance with it today. I’m certainly not a pain expert, but I do have my own interesting reaction to pain that I’ve struggled to pinpoint. Over time I land on more ideas as to its cause. Today is one of those days where new ideas have emerged.
Today’s post is a love letter to you, The Shoe Fairy! This is to show my appreciation for everything you do, create, and represent. On your recent Confessions of a Bikini Pro podcast episode with Celeste Rains-Turk, you mentioned that you LOVE seeing customer stories, so what better way to show my gratitude than by posting a public love letter celebrating you, my dear Shoe Fairy?
Did you take on the Triptych Challenge yesterday? If not, back up a day and go for it! We had fun with it at our house, finding trios and triangles everywhere and creating all sorts of triptychs.
Here are some of our results…
Inspired by the fun I was having with making lollipop images, I took my camera outside yesterday for some Lensbaby shooting in my yard. We’ve had some colorful and interesting wildflowers and weeds pop up recently, always good photo subjects. The results are not masterpieces (hello, contentment), but for me the joy is in the creation more than the product. In the end, I have a pair of triptychs and an image of three weeds (top image, not a triptych). This inspired me to issue today’s mission, should you choose to accept – The Triptych Challenge.
It goes like this…
In honor of enjoying every day and the gifts within, a concept I mentioned in Contentment, Curve Balls, and Listen to Your Waffles, I’m easing off the internal intensity and having more fun. One of my favorite ways to have fun and live life right now is through art and color. Combine those with some sugar and we have a recipe for some eye candy!
“Contentment is not the fulfillment of what you want, but the realization of how much you already have.” This was another tiny framed quote my mom had in our house when I was a kid, just like “Bloom where you are planted.” I pondered this when I was young, not understanding what it meant, yet I read it over and over every day for years. This one was hanging in the kids’ bathroom – toothbrushing and philosophy at the same time. Brilliant, mom! As I learned to read, you planted the seeds…
