I have been writing a love letter a day to someone in my family, David or the kids, since the beginning of June. I haven’t missed a day because it is one of the highlights of my mornings. After I write a daily blog post I write a daily love letter. Thoughtfully connecting with one of them is powerful and grounding, a daily reminder to slow down and notice, appreciate, and delight in what makes each one unique. I close almost every letter with a “may you…” wish. Today I’m sharing 31 of my favorite wishes from the letters I’ve written so far.
May we keep on learning and growing together.
May our personal love languages continue to evolve and express artfully.
May Margie Jean always be with us and continue to bring us joy.
May you always have a sense of adventure, even when it scares you.
May our art always make us smile and laugh, a new visual anchor.
May we carry on in the same direction, enhancing each other’s lives, and spreading love to our family and everyone we know.
May you absorb every bit of this period of personal growth and own the pride of your accomplishments.
May you keep on exploring, creating, designing, and enjoying. I’m inspired by you.
May you reach out and offer more hugs. I love them.
May you always feel confident with doctors and say everything you want to say.
May you always be a free-spirited sparkly athlete, strong physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
May you always want to learn and help!
May you always feel connected to and love animals. May you always feel this love everywhere.
May your hair always be a reflection of you.
May we always be here now.
The girl with marshmallow eyes, rainbows in her hair, and joy indelibly printed on her heart – may your gifts and soul always soar and sing loudly, and may your outfits always be beautifully yours.
May you will always have this confidence in life. It is rare and it is powerful. I learn from you and your confidence everyday, borrowing pieces of it to add to my own life.
May we always be sisters in glitter.
May you always live with such resolve, but may it never turn into obstinacy. May you always have clarity, but may you also let go and rethink. May you always have direction, but may you also float freely.
May you embrace this new chapter and let it transform you.
May you always honor yourself for who you are and all that you have within you.
May your path become clear and may your machete be ever sharp.
May we always hold hands and listen with the appropriate vegetable.
May we love without distraction.
May we all show up as our imperfect selves, wearing our underwear on the outside.
May we never eat Chinese food in Moab again.
May these letters be a treasure for you.
May you always make pom poms.
May you always lead by example. I learn from you.
May we always live within our integrity.
May your legacy always be as strong as your sperm.
Writing love letters is fun, amazing, eye-opening, cathartic, and a treasure filled with gratitude. I absolutely encourage you to do it! You don’t have to be a good writer, just WRITE. I promise that the recipient will love every word of what you have to say. Give it a try! Pick a person and commit to 30 days, then go from there.
May you go forth and write with love, freely.
