“Don’t lose rainbow order because if you do it makes your tummy and head hurt. It isn’t correct and I get really sad.”
– Willa Martin
The brilliance of my 5 year old, integrating color with feeling. Yes, girl, yes! You’ve got it! She not only sees rainbow but feels it in her body.
Rainbow Science
Rainbows occur in a particular order for a reason and they only look and feel right when they are in that order. She and I spent some time looking at this age-appropriate explanation about how they are formed:
Then we looked at these images, and I enjoyed this article for older readers.
No Red, Yes Red
Rainbow is my favorite color now, but for almost my whole life my favorite color was “every color except red.” I used to dislike red. Like, really dislike red. Until I was pregnant with my daughter and claimed it as my rainbow meditation color, the color that would be my focus for her birth. I was immediately drawn to it which surprised me, but with curiosity I went with it.
Look at the chakras.
Red is at the bottom. All of my health issues have been in this area – incompetent cervix, PCOS, hip dysplasia, osteitis pubis, adhesive capsulitis, etc. Once I embraced red, the incompetent cervix and PCOS went away. Once I embraced red, the hip dysplasia, osteitis pubis, and related hip issues came to light and we began to fix them. I’m not saying that these are necessarily related, but isn’t it interesting? Now that I embrace the full rainbow, my health is better. My body feels stable and integrated. My LIFE feels stable and integrated.
Like my daughter said, don’t lose rainbow order! We need it to feel good. All of it. When some of it is missing, figure it out and put the rainbow back together. It isn’t a whole without all of the parts.
Check out my Visual Voice Pinterest board. Can you tell that I love the entire rainbow now?
Rainbow Art
Willa and I are working on a multi-day art project together. It is, of course, rainbow art. We have taken our time to plan the steps, color choices, and color placement. Yesterday we did the first step, the rainbow foundation. Today we will add on more layers. Here are some sneak peeks:
The top image for this post is a composite of all three images, a result of me having some photoshop fun. The project won’t look like that in the end but I wanted to see how it felt to merge our rainbow. She and I agree that life feels better with the entire rainbow put together. It can be stirred and shaken a bit, as long as it is all there and in order.
So, go forth today, embrace all of the colors around you, but above all, don’t lose rainbow order!
