Do you trust your gut? AKA listen to your intuition? Have you been up against making a difficult decision where the only way left to decide is by letting your gut feeling guide? It is an interesting place to be, one that I’ve been working with for a few weeks now.
Something Doesn’t Feel Right
Do you know that feeling? That “can’t quite put your finger on exactly why but you feel it” feeling?
And how about a parade of signs that by themselves are incidental but as a collective seem to be the Universe delivering a clear answer? Is it real, or fabricated out of convenience? Inner wishes or reality screaming at me? Should I listen or dismiss?
Enteric Nervous System
Our intuition is a real thing, proven many times over. Our gut is a secondary brain, often alerting us to things before our conscious brain does. This is that snap feeling we get, one we should pay attention to more often.
And Then Things Change
Just when I think I have a solid plan in place/know my kids/things are settling in, etc., things change. This is life. When our children are babies we finally figure out their schedule only for it to change the next day, so we begin again. Lather rinse repeat for their entire lives. And so it goes right now with educating my children.
Mason had a solid year of Lego mentoring with the best mentor ever but he is moving to Denmark to work for Lego. SO AWESOME for him! But now we are left to make a new plan. What is his new path?
Willa seemed to have it all in place with her farm school but it isn’t turning out to be the right place for her. So, we are left working on making new plans for her, too. What is her new path?
What are the right choices? What is the right direction? Important decisions.
How I’m Listening To My Gut
Being careful to listen but also not be emotional or hasty, I’ve been taking my time with all of this. First, a huge step back, completely removed from zoomed in perspective. This is to give time and space to eliminate lingering emotions and have a clear head, allowing time for me to process the situation and imagine other options. This also provides space for my intuition to guide where there are no clear “logical” answers. I’m tuning into how my body feels around each part of what is going on. Tight, foreboding, and clenched feelings versus open, expansive, ready to run towards and be in the zone.
Trust Your Gut
Up against tough decisions, life trajectory type of decisions, my only tool left is to trust my gut.
