For several years now I’ve flirted with the idea of doing a Project 365 or even a Project 52 but always shied away, not wanting to potentially set myself up for failure. How SILLY! Look at me now, I’ve been writing this blog every single day since March 11, never missing a day, 265 posts in a row. Writing a blog post a day is much harder than capturing an image a day. SO, with that in mind, I’m going to end the year with a Project 31 and I’d like you to join me…
Project 31
For all of December, I’m going to capture and finish at least one image a day. Something meaningful, intentional, artistic, creative, whatever speaks to me. I’ll share each one within my blog. It might relate to the post but it might not. It doesn’t matter.
Photography is Joy
For me, I almost immediately enter Flow when I pick up my cameras. From the moment I insert a memory card through a completed edit at the computer, the whole process is pure joy for me. It’s been a short bit since I made this a daily practice – it is high time to make it part of December!
December
This is a month of holidays, family togetherness (Lucas will be home for a month over December and January!), lights, good food, gratitude – there’s so much to capture. If there was ever a month to jump start a potentially longer-term daily photography project this is it!
Project 31?
Will you join me? You don’t need a fancy camera or any skills whatsoever. All you need is intention and desire. Step up from the typical “whip out the phone for a quick pic” and be purposeful. Imagine all 31 images printed into a photo book at the end and seek to create a story with your images. Documentary, abstract, a theme of some sort – it is for you to decide!
I’m excited to see what you create! Please send your images to me. In the meantime, I’m jumping the gun so I have something to share with you today.
