Sometimes in life it is time for change. We are at one of those junctures in our family right now in regards to education. We have been homeschooling since March 2020, opting to do our own programs once the 2020 school year ended. And it was brilliant. For awhile. Until it wasn’t. I see you, Mason and Willa, and I see what you each need…
School and Education
I have strong thoughts on schools and education – read a previous post I wrote on this topic HERE, possibly my most pointed post to date. My thoughts come from years of experience, research, and trial and error with my kids. Coming to our new decision was not easy or quick and will not be left unattended.
Time For Change
These past few months have gotten to be overly mundane and uninspired for Mason, and Willa has been curious and asking about going to school. So, we have unenrolled them from Clonlara (this place is BRILLIANT!) and both Mason and Willa will go to school starting in the new year. As in wear uniforms, go to classrooms, eat lunch with friends, school school. Mason needs the structure and time with friends, and Willa is ready to experience something completely new. I see you two!
Naturally, Mason isn’t pleased with this decision (hello early mornings!), but Willa is out of her mind excited. We went to tour the school and she invited herself into the mix, stayed in her new classroom for an hour, and told me to get lost so she could be with her kids. She will have to take a step back from 1st grade and do Kindergarten due to the age cutoff, but so it goes with school rules. She is so excited, I gave her my double convex lens to amplify her smile – today’s Project 31 image.
I See You
As much as I prefer our own learning plans, I’d be remiss as a parent if I didn’t pay attention to what my kids are showing me with their behavior and saying to me with words. I see you both! So, we dive into a new phase of the adventure of raising kids. This will be an enormous change and I’m curious to see where it goes.
