Memento Mori is a reminder that we are mortal, that the number of days we each have is unknown. This is a reminder to live each day to the fullest for it could be our last. I don’t mean this to be a morbid message today, but rather to inspire us all to grab life by everything we’ve got, do everything today that has been left for Tomorrow or Someday, and live life NOW. Stack every day with Nows and watch what happens!
Were all the geniuses of history to focus on this single theme, they could never fully express their bafflement at the darkness of the human mind … No person hands out their money to passersby, but to how many do each of us hand out our lives! We’re tight-fisted with property and money, yet think too little of wasting time, the one thing about which we should all be the toughest misers.
– Seneca
Have you seen the viral videos of Nightbirde? She landed in my life a few days ago and has lit me up with joy. She is the embodiment of Memento Mori. Watch and let it sink in:
Cancer Warrior living her dream and leading the way with joy – we should all be paying attention!
This illustrates exactly what I tell people, the mindset I embrace about my own journey through soon to be 12 surgeries – my issues and journey are NO BIG DEAL. It’s just bones and joints, it isn’t like my Most Difficult Experience where someone died. My life isn’t on the line. I’m grateful for the gifts it is giving me, making the most of every day along the way. Stuff hurts – so what? Someday it won’t. And in the end I’ll be better for it – physically, mentally, spiritually – wholly.
Let us prepare our minds as if we’d come to the very end of life. Let us postpone nothing. Let us balance life’s books each day. … The one who puts the finishing touches on their life each day is never short of time.
– Seneca
What do you need to do in life right now? It is never the best or right time, so now is the perfect time. Now O’Clock.
You could leave life right now. Let that determine what you do and say and think.
– Marcus Aurelius
