During a conversation yesterday with my coach, I was trying to come up with imagery that best represents how I’ve spent the last two weeks feeling. He has been ill, too, so it was a search for something mutual to share. Then it hit me! That scene in Inside Out when Bing Bong, Joy, and Sadness go through the shortcut of Abstract Thought and get hit with Stage One – Non-Objective Fragmentation.
Shortcuts
Speaking of shortcuts, this one isn’t at all related to the ones I was thinking of yesterday. Not ALL shortcuts are bad. For example, a road that is a faster route. Maybe there’s a huge traffic jam making the usual route very slow. An alternate route could be an excellent shortcut. That is still Through.
However
This particular shortcut comes with a DANGER sign.
Non-Objective Fragmentation
This is Stage One of the four stages of form breakdown in Abstract Thought. THIS is the stage that best represents how I’ve been feeling!
It is very much like Picasso-esque blocks, crooked and sideways and bent out of shape. Heads are definitely not on straight. Writing a blog is darn near impossible because my brain has gone sideways along with everything else. PHEW!!
The Four Stages
Here is a clip of the entire scene for reference.
And in case you haven’t seen this movie yet, GO WATCH IT! It is brilliant, one that I’m happy to watch over and over. Just stay out of the Abstract Thought shortcut! You might get hit with Non-Objective Fragmentation and all that follows!
