A few days ago Mason and I went to Meow Wolf again with some friends. Earlier in the day I had Denis Morton and the Golden Buddha story on my mind along with Snow Patrol’s Open Your Eyes. How on earth does this all connect? Read on…

The Golden Buddha

In 2018, Denis Morton led a Peloton Pride Ride wherein he shared the story of the Golden Buddha. It was an ELECTRIC moment! Have a look:

Sadly, this ride is no longer available, a victim of The Great Purge not long afterwards. (Music rights issues forced Peloton to remove a ton of content.) But, at least this magical moment is preserved.

Then the other morning, before going to Meow Wolf, I did another Denis Morton ride. He mentioned the Golden Buddha story again and that Open Your Eyes was the inspiration for him sharing the story on that 2018 ride.

I’m connecting the dots. Denis is mysterious like that, laying down clues every now and then into how he thinks. This is all proof positive that Peloton is much, much more than Workouts At Home. There are interesting and wise nuggets in almost every workout, the element I look forward to most.

Meow Wolf Eyes

Meow Wolf is full of basically everything, but on that day I noticed the abundance of eyes. Lots and lots of eyes! The image at the top of this post is one set that was staring down at me. Of course, we see more of what we are looking for (Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon) but I can’t help but wonder if the artists at Meow Wolf are entangling the message for us to all open our eyes as an added layer to their own artistic messages. Open Your Eyes

Do you have layers of mud on you to wash away? Does someone in your life? Have you lost your gold? Have you let the world get to you and now you’ve lost yourself and your way? Do you need to open your eyes?
