Yesterday we went on our annual family pumpkin patch outing, back to Anderson Farms in Erie, CO again. We loved it so much last year, we had to go back there again. I think it is our spot now. Read on to see the fun we had – Pumpkin Patch 2022!
Pumpkin Patch 2021
First, looking back at my post from last year, it is interesting to see my mindset and wish for where I’d be this year.
“I’m hoping that one more Winter of buckling down will yield a final Spring bloom and finish line.”
Welllll…that didn’t happen, but gosh darn if I didn’t bring my A Game mentally! If only we had known what was really going on inside my body.
In any case, we are here now and on a much healthier path physically.
Pumpkin Patch 2022
We went three weeks earlier this year. Things are still green and it felt like Summer, but there were very few people – our favorite way to enjoy things like this.
We went on the wagon ride out the pumpkin fields to pick pumpkins. Like a good post-op patient, I stayed on the wagon. We ended up bringing home 9 pumpkins!
And then there was face painting…
And snuggles…
Mason tried to climb a tree…
Mason and I sat and chatted while David and Willa did the corn maze.
And Willa and David rode on the barrel train. This looks like so much fun! PRESS PLAY!!
We also found a huge colony of fire ants and Willa pet all of the animals, rode a pony, did pedal carts, played on the combine playground…I think I got it all.
How did it feel?
For me, it felt amazing to get out and feel the sun. I was perfectly happy to sit and watch and slowly make my way around the farm. While I thought I felt good last year, it was mostly hopeful, wishful thinking. This year my soul feels settled. The low simmer of unrest and dis-ease is gone. I’m happy to take my time and savor the days like this.
