To New Beginnings

Today my BFF and I are climbing Hope Pass. This has been a goal of ours, physically and symbolically, since we first met. It represents new beginnings, closure of old issues, healing, friendship, and overcoming our greatest physical challenges in life together, namely our collective 17 hip and pelvis surgeries to date.

With this in mind, today I offer blessings to new beginnings.

Today we start with linked arms at the base of a mountain. How far we go is unknown, but the direction is most definitely UP!

Muddled, lonely, confusing,
We link arms and find
That we can blaze the trail together,
With surety and resolve, gratitude for fuel.

Where there is no well-worn path,
We create our own,
With brightly planted steps.

Showing a glittery trail of possibility to others.

Elephants eaten, rainbow spoons raised high,
It is in togetherness that we rise.
Lipgloss on, donning cherry blossoms of hope,

Our challenges have been mighty, but they have changed us into better versions of ourselves. As we have taken turns doing our work, supporting each other through surgery after surgery, we always rise, stronger and more beautiful than before.

For a New Beginning

This day is going to be a blast! Every day is a new beginning and a new hope – for us embodied by Hope Pass. Tomorrow I’ll have stories and images to share.
